Summary of proposal inc. proposed outputs
Physical measures to ‘Slow The Flow’ of high rainfall and soil erosion issues across parts of Deer Park Farm and its impacts on water quality into Luckett stream. This project is designed to complement more comprehensive lower valley mitigation works funding through WEIF/Tamara Project.

The listed items of earth bank new hedgerow plantings, leaky dams and gateway relocation are each detailed recommendations from surveys conducted by DWT/EA and WRT.

Mitigation measures to ‘Slow The Flow’ of high rainfall surface run off and reduce levels of soil erosion across 20 ha of arable cropping farm land through the installation of a series of physical barriers, e.g earth bunds, leaky dams, relocated gateway and the creation of an earth bank planted with hedgerow to connect existing hedges and woodland as a carbon sequester. Each crossing a further 10 ha of permanent grassland.

Climate change, extreme weather and high rainfall present challenges for arable cropping on sloping fields with soil erosion/potential run off, directly into water courses. The Luckett stream has been identified as a major issue running into the river Tamar due to its short length, tributary and complex water shed.

Complimentary mitigation measures towards Slowing the flow across Deer Park Farm will compliment the major works of the WEIF/Tamara project throughout the Luckett stream.
