Summary of proposal inc. proposed outputs
Planting 75m of mixed species hedging.
4x Mobile shelters for existing pasture-raised poultry operation
The shelters will provide adequate space, feeding & water facilities and ventilation to produce an additional 150 oven ready birds per week (current housing is allowing us to produce up to 50 per week). They will also allow us to supply additional nutrients across our farm.
There is currently no hedge along the existing laneway on the farm
There is simultaneously a demand from our customers for more chicken production and an increased demand for nutrients for our soils on farm which will be provided through the poultry production. Our grassland soils need adequate nutrient input to maintain healthy grass for grazing and our Arable (Vegetable) soils also need yearly input to maintain production.
Increase biodiversity on our farm.
Further develop and increase our closed cycle of nutrients on farm for our grassland and vegetable production.
Increase soil / plant health and carbon storage.
