Beginning with a short introduction to hedges and their role within the rural landscape, Jeremy will educate and inspire course attendees in the art of hedge laying. From discussions about the history of hedges, hedge types, tree and shrub varieties, tools and their use and maintenance, Jeremy will share the skills necessary to successfully lay hedges found on attendees own farms, or places of work. There is a strong practical element to the course with attendees aiming to lay between 30 & 50m of hedge during the course. The teaching of this important rural skill will encourage participants to create healthier hedges, increase wildlife corridors, biodiversity, and to enhance team work and collaboration skills.

Attendees will leave the course with a good grounding in hedge laying and maintenance, able to tackle projects of their own with competence and confidence.

This course will provide the attendees with the skills they need to start their journey and for them to start hedge laying on their own land or as part of their work. Those who wish to will be encourage to attend further training to develop their skills for more advanced hedges.
