Summary of proposal inc. proposed outputs
This project forms a part of a much wider suite of programmes and schemes we have undertaken, in the process of or have planned on our farm that enhance and complement the project outcomes. We have obtained our Green Care Quality Mark, awarded by Leaf Education, and are now an Accredited Educational Facility for the Rare Breeds Survival Trust, a Nodel farm for the TVAONB and provide Educational Visits for the RPA. We are keen to introduce new facilities on the farm to provide further inclusive learning and volunteering opportunities. We are CEVAS Trained in Education & Therapy to ensure we are providing quality and relevant sessions for all visitors.
This part of the project is to:
- Provide warm and sheltered spaces for volunteers and students working with the veg, fruit, flower and sensory gardens to have refreshments and a place to dry off or keep out of the sun.
- Ensure all areas of the gardens are fully accessible by building new tar planning tracks in and around the raised beds, fruit cages, poly tunnel and shelters.
- Use tar plannings to link existing facilities such as the car park and accessible toilets to the new gardens.
- Use the building and shelter to harvest rainwater for watering the plants (rainwater harvesting equipment to be funded by TLP).
- A log burner to sustainably heat the building using waste wood from work undertaken in our woodland management plan
- Install water pipe using a pipe burrier to provide as least disturbance to the soil to provide water to the building for drinking, hand washing and topping up water tank when needed.
- Purchase and repurpose an old welfare unit to use for refreshments and as a meeting place for volunteers and visiting groups.
Wooden benches which can be used indoors and outside regardless of weather and can sustain getting muddy!
