Fish and aquatic species monitoring
Methodologies and opportunities to monitor the wetlands for fish and other aquatic species, including the benthic zone (sediments at the bottom layers), will be explored working with expert partners and citizen scientists.
For example, in summer 2023 a PhD student at the University of Plymouth, working with Dr Ben Ciotti, conducted seine net surveys to help understanding of the importance of estuaries in the southwest, including the Tamar, as habitats for juvenile seabass. The plan for this year is to sample sites on the Tamar in May, July, and September.
