Welcome to Calstock Wetlands
Enjoy getting close to nature from a footpath that takes you through a newly created area of intertidal wetland habitat; part of the Environment Agency’s Calstock flood defence improvement scheme.
Access Information
The wetlands is a 400m level walk from the free car park in the centre of Calstock.
You can access the river walk via the ramp from the car park and turn left to follow the path.
The car park has toilets, and just the other side of the village hall, is a pub, café and ice cream parlour.
The river path can get slippery and muddy during wet weather, so care should be taken, heed the warning signs on route.
The path runs for 0.8 miles (1.3Km), and at the far end you have the option of walking back along the river or taking the shorter route along the road to the village. The circular route is a total of 1.4miles (2.3Km) which will take about 40 minutes.
Please note, cycling is not permitted on the path for safety reasons.

Get Involved
The Calstock Wetlands is managed by the Tamar Community Trust, a volunteer and delivery partner of the Tamar Valley National Landscape.
The Trust is always keen to recruit volunteers to help in keeping the paths and walks accessible throughout the Tamar Valley.
Even though the wetlands itself is mostly ‘hands-off’ management, there will be an on-going maintenance program for the river walk with which volunteer help is needed.
Other volunteer tasks can be getting involved with the monitoring and data handling of the various surveys on-going, working with publicity, fund-raising, walk-and-talk groups, educational access and lots more.
If you would like to get involved either with just the Wetlands or with our work across the area, do let us know by contacting us via the contact us link below
