Tamar Valley National Landscape is seeking to work with an artist as part of the national Nature Calling project, aimed at connecting people with Nature through art in its widest sense.
View Artist Brief and application form£4,000 is available to commission an artist and fund works involved to help new audiences, who may currently feel excluded, to feel welcome and start their own story in this protected landscape, in particular refugees and asylum seekers from within and around the Tamar Valley.
Bryony James, Community & Engagement Officer for Tamar Valley National Landscape’s Tamara Landscape Partnership Scheme (supported by National Lottery Heritage Fund), says: “Tamar Valley National Landscape is a hidden gem and a wonderful space to breathe, find peace and just be. We hope that through the Nature Calling programme, new communities and groups of people will discover just how special this area is for both Nature and people.”
The £2 million Nature Calling project, funded by Arts Council England, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and National Landscapes in England, is a ground-breaking new art programme that will amplify new voices and create innovative artwork in collaboration with communities close to National Landscapes. It will build a national Season of Art, sharing the work between May and October 2025.
Charlotte Dancer, Information & Communications Officer for Tamar Valley National Landscape, says: “The benefits of connecting with Nature have been proven to increase wellbeing. Together with our network of 33 other National Landscapes in England, that cover 15% of the land area in England, we hope to inspire a legacy of connectedness with Nature through art, so that people feel more immersed, more engaged, and more empowered to conserve and enhance Nature into the future.”
