Nature's Calendar 2025
30 Nature Notes that will observe the shifting seasons during Tamar Valley National Landscape’s 30th year since designation as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty…

Based on the Japanese tradition of observing 72 micro seasons (where each micro season lasts only five days), we’re celebrating Nature’s Calendar here in the Tamar Valley throughout 2025, by creating 30 Nature Notes that will observe the shifting seasons during Tamar Valley National Landscape’s 30th year since designation as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

This will act as a record – a snapshot in time – throughout one whole year, to compare and contrast with future years and help us to see what’s working well for Nature, and where it could benefit from a helping hand.
We’re asking everyone to share their observations with us. Maybe you’ll spot the first snowdrops emerging, hear a cuckoo or nightjar, taste the first Tamar Valley strawberry, smell the first hay harvest.

Simply email a brief note of your observations (including date, approximate time and location), together with a photo, short video or drawing. The Nature Notes will be exhibited in December 2025, with regular posts appearing on Facebook throughout the year, highlighting each of our special qualities.
Starting on 1 January 2025, observations will be recorded approximately every 12 days. We’d love you to join in with as many as you can!
